This project is on a historic home built in 1925 with beautiful structural columns supporting a large covered porch fit for rocking chairs. The roof was of poor design (mostly flat) and leaking into the soffit. We redesigned the roof to perform for the long-term while keeping the charm of the historic home. Replacement the existing columns with a like for like was beyond the budget. As a result we installed new pressure treated columns shrouded with layers of trim and simple design features. Replacing the existing roof allowed us to properly vent the porch as required by today’s building code thus ensuring the longevity of the roofing material.
